Join us for Samuel Barber’s jazz-influenced miniature, A Hand of Bridge, as an apéritif to our double bill of Il segreto di Susanna and Pagliacci.
Directed by Ben Newhouse-Smith, with music direction by Lindsay Bramley, four members of the Opera Holland Park chorus present Samuel Barber’s jazz-influenced miniature, A Hand of Bridge, as an apéritif to our double bill of Il segreto di Susanna and Pagliacci at 6pm on 25 and 27 July by the West Bar.
Just ten minutes long, A Hand of Bridge was premiered in 1959. As two couples play cards, David (Alistair Sutherland), Geraldine (Naomi Kilby), Bill (Stuart McDermott) and Sally (Yolanda Grant Thompson), confess their secrets to the audience: from affairs to regrets, kinks and a burning desire for a flamboyant hat.
Join us free of charge for this scintillating pre-performance front of house treat.
