Announcing the 2027 Season

Opera Holland Park’s 2027 Season brings new productions of Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Puccini’s La rondine and a concert staging of Bellini’s Norma.

The Season opens with Simon Boccanegra, presented by OHP for the first time in the company’s history in a new production directed by Martin Lloyd-Evans and conducted by Matthew Kofi Waldren. José de Eça returns following triumphant performances in 2026 (La fanciulla del West and Turandot), alongside Jenny Stafford, making her OHP debut.

A leading interpreter of Gilbert and Sullivan, John Savournin returns to direct The Pirates of Penzance, conducted by John Andrews and staring Richard Burkhard, Madeline Robinson and Savournin himself. The production will also receive a dedicated Young Artists performance, with a separate cast and creative team.

Following her appearance at OHP for the 2026 concert staging of Turandot, Naomi Woo returns to conduct Bellini’s tragedy Norma, with staging by Harriet Taylor and after her notable success as Amelia in Un ballo in maschera in 2026, Elin Pritchard returns to make her role debut in the title role. Siân Griffiths will perform the role of Adalgisa.

John Wilkie directs a new production of Mozart’s quicksilver comedy Le nozze di Figaro, conducted by Charlotte Corderoy with Madeline Boreham, Alaric Green, Rhian Lois, Paul Grant and Shakira Tsindos. Thanks to the generous support of the Laidlaw Opera Trust, the production will also receive a Young Artists performance, with its own cast and creative team.

Completing the season, Cecilia Stinton returns for her sixth production for Opera Holland Park, following recent successes with Lucia di Lammermoor and Così fan tutte, to direct Puccini’s bittersweet La rondine. Michael Papadopoulos conducts with a cast including Alison Langer, Matteo Desole Elizabeth Karani and Xavier Hetherington.
