Find out what it takes to be a set and costume designer with Alyson Cummins. The designer of recent Opera Holland Park productions Cosi fan tutte (2018) and L’arlesiana (2019) discusses the journey from mood board to fittings and technical rehearsals.

Alyson Cummins
Alyson studied Architecture at University College of Dublin and trained in theatre design at Motley. In 2007 she was a finalist in the biennial Linbury prize for stage design, and her set design for the Abbey Theatre production of Pentecost won the Irish Times Theatre Award in 2015. For Opera Holland Park, she has designed Zazà (2017), Così fan tutte (2018) and L’arlesiana (2019). She has also designed productions and coproductions with companies including Clean Break and Theatr Clwyd, English Theatre Frankfurt, Icelandic Opera, YMT, Lyric Belfast, Gate Theatre, Dublin, Young Vic, Irish Rep and Public Theater NY, Robin Rayner/Marlowe Theatre, Iford Arts, Project Arts Centre, Linbury Studio, Druid, Tinderbox, Sherman Cymru, Bristol Old Vic, Waking Exploits, Arcola, Second Age and Project / Civic / Bedrock.
