Free tickets for Older Audiences

A meaningful activity like attending an evening of high-quality opera with family and friends can help to overcome isolation and broaden horizons, something which is particularly important for our older audiences. This is why we continue to offer free opera tickets for those over the age of 65.

Applications for this scheme can be made either individually or as part of a community group. We encourage our audiences to apply as part of an organised group (such as a day centre, retirement café, older persons’ forum, or through a charity such as Age UK or Contact the Elderly) because we believe that injecting the arts into the heart of a community can make a significant positive change to overall health and wellbeing.

This is a wonderful scheme. I brought a friend who would not have been able to afford a ticket, who greatly enjoyed the opera.

Tickets are allocated through a ballot system.

Please note: if applying as part of a community group, you can apply for up to 10 tickets per performance. If you are applying as an individual, you may apply for a maximum of 2. When making your application, please mark on the form if you or any of your party have any access needs, and we will ensure that these are accommodated. Free tickets for Younger Audiences

We are delighted to offer 1,000 free tickets to performances across our season each year, enabling young people aged 7-18 to get their first taste of opera with us.

Please note: young people aged 7-18 are eligible to apply for free tickets. Children aged 7-15 years old must be accompanied by an adult (over 18 years) whose ticket is also free. A free accompanying adult ticket is only available where there is a young person aged under 16 years applying for tickets. Applicants may apply for up to four tickets: one adult and up to three young people.

Free tickets for qualifying individuals will be available to book for our 2019 Season on Monday 1 April.

For School Groups wishing to buy a number of tickets, we recommend our Schools’ Matinee performances.

INSPIRE £20 tickets

Every season we make a limited number of £20 tickets in the pink seating zone available for each of our productions. These tickets are available online only, and are intended for those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend our performances. To allow as many people as possible to benefit from the scheme, patrons can buy a maximum of four INSPIRE tickets per season, and two per production.

INSPIRE tickets for the 2019 Season will go on sale on Wednesday 13 March 2019. Please check back closer to the time for further information about how to book.

There will continue to be no booking fees on any of our £20 INSPIRE tickets.

Half price community tickets

We are delighted to offer this scheme for staff of NHS, London Ambulance Service, London Fire Service, Metropolitan Police, as well as Teachers, Social Workers and Carers from the Tri-Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea.

Half price tickets will be available to any qualifying individuals in person at the theatre from 6pm on the day of each performance in our 2019 Season. The offer will cover any seats which have not yet been sold by that time. If the house is full, these seats will not available, so we would recommend checking availability in advance.

To claim your half price tickets:

  • On the day of each performance you must visit the theatre box office in person. These tickets cannot be pre-booked online or by telephone
  • From 6pm, all tickets remaining for that night’s performance will be available to purchase for half price to anyone who qualifies for the offer
  • You will need to show a staff card or other official employer ID to claim the offer, and this must include a photograph

This offer is not transferable to any non-employees of the above listed services (although your guest may be a non-employee). There is a maximum of two tickets per person, per visit, and this offer is not available retrospectively.
