An opulent example of French nineteenth century orientalism, Lakmé received its second staging at Opera Holland Park in Aylin Bozok’s production. Former OHP Young Artist Matthew Kofi Waldren conducted the City of London Sinfonia to acclaim from The Times and The Guardian.
In the roles of the Brahmin priestess and the English officer who falls in love with her, soprano Fflur Wyn and tenor Robert Murray were praised for their elegant sense of Gallic style in The Daily Telegraph, and the Opera Holland Park Chorus was said never to have sounded better.
