Designed by Jamie Vartan, Martin Lloyd-Evans’s acclaimed 2007 production of Montemezzi’s compact drama of passion and murderous jealousy was revived to enthusiastic notices from The Financial Times, The Times and The Sunday Express.
Soprano Natalya Romaniw, who made her company debut in Wolf-Ferrari’s I gioielli della Madonna in 2013, was praised in The Times for her “beautifully rounded, powerfully projected” voice and “stellar performance” in the role of Fiora, singing opposite tenor Joel Montero and bass-baritone Mikhail Svetlov. Peter Robinson conducted the City of London Sinfonia with “crisp authority” in the final production of the 2015 Season.
