What’s on offer

  • Relaxed Performance – every Discovery Matinee will be adapted to suit people who find it difficult to follow the usual conventions of theatre behaviour, and those who prefer a more relaxed environment.
  • Subsidised tickets – ticket prices are reduced for the Discovery Matinees with non-premium prices ranging from £15–55, with half price access tickets available for disabled people and a companion or carer.
  • All Discovery Matinee attendees are welcome to attend a touch tour of the venue and stage at 1pm
  • Audio-description – Some of our Discovery Matinees will be audio-described for blind and partially-sighted audiences, with additional commentary explaining the action on stage, including singers’ body language, expressions and movements.   • Weekend afternoon performances – we hope a 2pm start to each Discovery Matinee will allow families to fall in love with opera together.

  • The Barber of Seville – 16 June at 2pm
  • The Yeomen of the Guard – 10 August at 2pm

Audio Description and Touch Tours

Opera Holland Park is pleased to offer audio description facilities for the Discovery Matinee performances of Tosca, The Barber of Seville and The Yeomen of the Guard. Headsets will be available to collect from the box office on the day of the performance, but must be reserved in advance. Headsets can be reserved through calling the box office on 0300 999 1000.

Blind and partially sighted patrons are also eligible for half prices Access tickets. More information can be found here.

In addition, we will be running touch tours, where patrons have the opportunity to go up on stage and touch scenery, props and costumes before the performance. These will commence an hour before the performance and reservation is not required.
