La fanciulla del West
Giacomo Puccini 26 May – 12 June 2026Set against a manhunt in the lawless Sierra Nevada of the nineteenth century, with a pistol-packing, poker-playing heroine, La fanciulla del West sees Minnie Falconer, one of the first independent women to stake her claim in the wilds of California, fall in love with a stranger. But is the stranger who he claims to be?

28 May – 13 June 2026Mozart and Da Ponte’s delicious 1790 Neapolitan comedy plays on modern ‘scientific’ fascinations with mesmerism and the exotic, characters drawn from the baroque opera buffa tradition and the volcanic rumblings of Vesuvius, all posing the question: is this love or just infatuation?

19 – 27 June 2026First seen al fresco in 2012, Will Todd and Maggie Gottlieb’s free-wheeling, tongue-twisting adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s surreal classic for Opera Holland Park gives voice to the curious and curioser characters of the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse, Humpty Dumpty, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, and a positively terrifying Queen of Hearts in music that darts from a coloratura showpiece for a singing Bottle to the smoky blues of a Caterpillar with no work ethic.

Giacomo Puccini 23 – 27 June 2026From Opera Holland Park’s foundation in 1996, Puccini has been central to the company’s work, from multiple productions of the core and minor masterpieces to rarities including Le Villi and Edgar, and a concert performance of the Messa di Gloria. In our thirtieth year we complete this journey of discovery with a concert staging of Puccini’s final opera, Turandot, completed after the composer’s death in 1924 by Franco Alfano.

2 – 4 July 2026The UK premiere of Ruyusuke Numajiri’s luminescent 2014 opera of transformation and dislocation, The Bamboo Princess, and the first production in a new partnership between Opera Holland Park and the Yachiyoza Theatre of Kumamoto, Japan. Based on the ancient folk tale of The Bamboo Cutter, best known to Western audiences from Studio Ghibli’s The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, Numajiri’s opera combines delicate, shimmering orchestration with elegantly curving melodies. A poignant story of impossible love.

25 July – 7 August 2026The first revival of Rodula Gaitanou’s spectacular 2019 production of Verdi’s grand tragedy of illicit love and political turmoil. In mutual love with Amelia, the wife of his closest ally, cursed by a prophecy from a medium, and under threat from anti-monarchist conspirators, Gustavo must renounce his passion or his throne in Verdi's 1859 tragedy of illicit love, political unrest and regicide in the court of Gustave III, King of Sweden.

29 July – 8 August 2026Johann Strauss II’s irrepressible comedy of flirtations and machinations among Vienna’s poseurs, frenemies and twenty four hour party people returns to Opera Holland Park in a sparkling new production [from director Liam Steele (Le nozze di Figaro, 2012]. Will Falke get his revenge on Eisenstein for the incident with the bat costume? Can Frank convince Orlofsky that he is French? And why does that actress look so much like Rosalinde’s maid?

Will Todd Tuesday 16 December at 5pm and 8pm.Returning in 2025 due to popular demand, Will Todd’s “poignant” (MusicOMH) musical retelling of A Christmas Carol by Opera Holland Park weaves the melodies of traditional Victorian carols and the chimes of handbells through each episode of Dickens’s seasonal tale. A ghost story for all ages with a festive happy ending.
