Twelve months ago, in the days between Christmas and New Year, the challenges of producing the 2021 Season seemed almost insurmountable. Thanks to your support, we created a new stage and auditorium and were able to welcome audiences, artists, creative teams, backstage crew, hospitality, box office and front of house teams safely to 82 performances across the summer.

Last week in The Guardian’s 2021 music round up, Tim Ashley wrote that Opera Holland Park “found a well-nigh ideal solution to social distancing, with their open-sided auditorium and moveable seating”. Looking back at the summer and the digital events in the spring and autumn in the short film below, it seems like a dream.

We know that the last two years have been difficult for everyone, and especially hard for those who have lost loved ones. We thank you for being part of our family throughout this period, and for sticking with us through thick and thin. With your help we achieved what seemed to be impossible this year. We know that we can do it again in 2022, and will continue to be open and honest with you as our plans develop.

This New Year’s Eve we hope you will join us in a toast to next summer, and look ahead to warmer, brighter months together. In the meantime we hope you enjoy watching our short film, featuring some of our favourite moments from the past year.

With best wishes from the team at Opera Holland Park
