Everybody at Opera Holland Park was extremely sad to hear of the death of our good friend Sara Turnbull, a patron and volunteer at OHP for many years.
Sara has been a supporter of OHP in particular, and of the arts and music in general, for as long as any of us can remember. Our abiding memory of her will be her lovely smile and the way she would lead and ‘mother’ her groups of friends at performances, laying on delicious picnics and plenty of bubbly.
Sara supported OHP in many ways; she was an enormous opera fan and would be at every production during the season, often at more than one performance of each. She gave her time as a volunteer at dress rehearsals, events and performances but was also a member of various schemes, thus helping us financially too. Sara was great company and along with her sister Georgina would often join James and Mike for a swift cocktail or two before the show. She loved the company and was a dedicated advocate and supporter.
Many people who have worked at or attended OHP will know and remember Sara and all of us will miss her – and her lovely spirit – terribly.
Our deepest condolences go to her family and friends.
