Meet the emerging artists who will be presenting our 2023 Young Artists production of Hansel and Gretel this year. Edward will play Peter in this production.
Can you introduce us to the role of Peter?
Hi! My name is Peter and my wife is Gertrud. We have two children – our son is called Hansel and our daughter is called Gretel. I’m a broom-maker and I like to drink!
What aspect of the role are you most excited to tackle?
The German language and the portrayal of a father.
What are you most excited to learn or experience during your time as an OHP Young Artist?
Observing how the main casts work and rehearse in a professional setting and applying that to my work with the fellow OHP Young Artists.
If you could work with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Maria Callas. I would love to learn everything about how she sings and performs. I want to observe how she creates that magical sound!
What’s one piece of advice you’ve been given as an artist that has stayed with you?
My Korean professor once said, “You should treat every performance with utmost importance because you never know if it’s the audience’s first- or last-time watching a performance.”
